Kanye West is the latest celebrity to get a documentary highlighting their life and rise to stardom.

According to Variety, the film “In Whose Name?” features behind-the-scenes footage and follows Kanye as he navigates being a public figure. As the synopsis describes, West invites 18-year-old filmmaker Nicolas Ballesteros on a six-year journey, documenting the unfiltered aspects of the rapper’s life.  Additionally, the movie will do a deep dive into his rise to being the wealthiest Black man in American history.

“The film follows Ye’s ascent to becoming the richest Black man in American history while uncovering why the superstar risked everything he had built in the name of freedom. Examining the culture that birthed the star, ‘In Whose Name?’ explores the overlapping influences of corporate exploitation, racial complexities, and psychological struggles inherent in the American dream.”

While the film is set to debut in 2025, “In Whose Name?” is currently in post-production. Ballesteros serves as the producer, alongside Jack M. Russell and Shy Ranje as co-producers. Marie Zeniter from Utopia and Eva Diederix from Goodfellas also spoke on the documentary, saying the film is meant to be raw to allow viewers to form their own opinions.

“This powerful documentary offers an unfiltered view without narration, it invites audiences to draw their own conclusions on themes of fame, religion and power. We believe audiences globally deserve the chance to witness how one of the world’s most influential figures navigates the complexities and contradictions of celebrity,” they said.

Nonetheless, even though the documentary doesn’t specifically mention Kanye’s past anti-semitic comments and his other public incidents, the timeline of “In Whose Name?” suggests these moments, as well as his divorce from Kim Kardashian, might surface.
