Netflix has introduced a new documentary to viewers’ screens, this time about the twisted life of Jeffrey Dahmer. Though the serial killer has been dead for nearly a decade, his name has been name-dropped in pop culture multiple times, specifically on songs by Kesha and Katy Perry.

After the release of the new Netflix show “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” fans have been making some connections between lyrics and the notorious sex offender. Perry’s song, “Dark Horse,” and Kesha’s “Cannibal” all refer to the sick inhumane acts Dahmer performed on his victims. His cannibalistic activity is referenced in the songs.

In “Dark Horse,” featuring Juicy J, he raps, “Uh, she’s a beast/I call her Karma (come back)/She eats your heart out like Jeffrey Dahmer (whoa!)/Be careful/Try not to lead her on (mm).”

And fans are reacting to the news that both singers are coming under fire for lyrics and references.

why on katy perry dark horse i never realized juicy j said, “she’s a beast i call her karma she eats your heart out like Jeffrey Dahmer” 😭😭😭

… you know jeffree dahmer is literally one of the most referenced criminals in pop & hip hop music, right? dark horse by katy perry & juicy j also name dropped him and that went #1 in 2014. like… it’s been so normalized for decades now that this naive tweet is funny to me https://t.co/uL9GU1NXwk pic.twitter.com/Q6XVapjiPa

Another one: imagine having a family member brutally murdered, and then less than 25 years later, you hear a popular song on the radio with a throwaway line name dropping the man who took the life of that person from you. The song? Dark Horse- Katy Perry

Dahmer was known as the “Milwaukee Cannibal.” He was a serial killer and sex offender who committed murders and dismemberment of seventeen men and boys. Many of his later murders involved necrophilia and cannibalism.

Kesha’s song, “Cannibal,” says, “And for dessert, I’ll suck your teeth/Be too sweet, and you’ll be a goner/(Yeah) I’ll pull a Jeffrey Dahmer.” The lyrics are tempting other fans to cancel Kesha.

Yall never actually listened to #Kesha 's lyrics before? Or are yall only just now learning who #jeffreydahmer is? Her song Cannibal is old AF and it is a metaphor. It's called art.
Yall cry about conservatives book burning, then wanna cancel a woman about a metaphor. Shut up
