A resurfaced backstage clip involving Katy Perry and Justin Bieber has social media revisiting a moment from more than a decade ago while newer allegations around the pop star continue to draw headlines. Additionally, a separate clip of Perry kissing a minor is also drawing backlash.
Video
The first video, originally filmed in June 2012 at Capital’s Summertime Ball in London, shows Perry greeting Bieber backstage before reaching toward his backside during the interaction. Perry was 27 at the time, while Bieber was 18. She then looked toward the camera and mouthed, “Sorry Selena,” referencing Selena Gomez, who was dating Bieber at the time. Bieber, now 32, has never publicly addressed the moment. Representatives for both artists were reportedly contacted for comment.
In another brief concert clip, Perry invites a 14-year-old boy onstage and kisses him on the lips after asking his age.
The old footage picked up fresh attention after Ruby Rose publicly accused Perry of sexual assault over an alleged incident in Melbourne, Australia, years earlier. Rose wrote, “Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s–t what she thinks.”
Rose also claimed Perry “pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her.”
She continued, “After it I threw up on her, I told the story publicly but changed it to be a ‘funny little drunk story’ because I didn’t know how else to handle it. Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person.”
Perry’s representative strongly denied the accusations, stating, “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies.”
The statement added, “Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
Victoria Police confirmed detectives are investigating a historical sexual assault allegation tied to a licensed premises in Melbourne’s Central Business District in 2010.
