The situation escalated fast, and now both sides are standing firm. Katy Perry is pushing back hard against sexual assault allegations made by actress Ruby Rose, calling the claims flat-out false while warning they could be dangerous.
In a statement released Monday, Perry’s representative shut the accusations down completely, describing them as “categorically false” and labeling them “dangerous reckless lies.” The statement also pointed to what it described as Rose’s past pattern of making serious public allegations that others have denied.
Rose, however, is not backing off. She initially made the claims on Threads while reacting to a viral clip of Perry at Coachella watching Justin Bieber’s set. What started as commentary quickly turned into a detailed accusation, with Rose alleging that Perry sexually assaulted her at a nightclub in Melbourne years ago.
The posts grew more graphic as Rose responded to users, describing the alleged incident in explicit terms and claiming it happened publicly with witnesses present. She also addressed why she hadn’t previously filed a police report, saying she has not reported other alleged assaults either.
Then things shifted again. Rose later announced she went to a police station to explore whether any of her experiences could still be investigated, acknowledging potential statute of limitations issues but saying she felt compelled to try anyway. She followed up with a message saying she had completed the visit and felt some relief, while also hinting at naming individuals she believes hold significant power.
At this point, there is a clear divide. Perry’s camp is categorically denying everything, while Rose is escalating her claims and taking steps that suggest she wants formal scrutiny. No law enforcement agency has publicly confirmed an active investigation tied to these allegations as of now.
The tension sits in the contrast. One side is calling it fiction. The other is putting it on record.
