Singer-songwriter Kehlani has been sued for allegedly wrecking a Ferrari she rented, after possibly running into an animal.

According to The Blast, the 25-year-old Oakland native is being sued by the owner of a Ferrari that she rented for a music video. The outlet reports that the owner claims Kehlan crashed into an animal while shooting the video. Legal documents that were obtained by The Blast state the singer “rented” the luxury car from a Florida company that owned the car through a “third party rental agency.” After she was finished using the car, the company states it was returned with critical damage.

The company claims the 2017 car was used for “commercial purposes” during the production of her music video. The Blast reports that the company claims Kehlani “negligently, recklessly, carelessly operated the Ferrari as to collide with an animal and/or unknown object and thereby causing significant material damage” to the Ferrari.

The video shows Kehlani driving in a desert in a black Ferrari, and in another shot, she is seen driving on a dirt road. However, there are no details on the animal incident that allegedly took place. The owner of the vehicle says the damages cost $24,426.12 to be fixed, adding that they are still suffering from the “loss of use of the Ferrari from the date of loss on April 22, 2020, through the date the Ferrari was fully repaired.” The lawsuit states the car’s value “diminished’ by almost $90,000.” It cost $1,000 a day to rent the car; in total, the loss of rental time plus the damages comes out to $35,000.

As a result, the owner wants a judge to decide whether or not the damages were caused by a “motor vehicle accident” and to suspend Kehlani’s license until she pays them.
