Keke Palmer is sharing a rare look into her personal life, including the time a well-known celebrity couple asked her to join them for a threesome.
During a guest appearance on the Decisions Decisions podcast, the 32-year-old star broke down the encounter and explained why she chose to decline.
“They came up to me very normal, and I respected that,” Palmer said during the interview. “I respect that they was like, ‘Look, me and my husband, we would love to blah blah blah.’ And I was like, ‘Thank you.’ You know, I wasn’t into it, but I was like, ‘Thank you.’”
When the podcast hosts, Mandii B and WeezyWTF, asked why she wasn’t feeling the offer, Keke admitted that she is actually a major fan of the couple’s professional work. “I fuck with them heavy,” she said, adding that she “respected the vibe” of the wife being so upfront about their situation.
The actress noted that while she has been approached before, people often try to ask indirectly, which makes the conversation more awkward than it needs to be. She urged people to be more transparent to ensure everyone involved can give proper consent.
“They weren’t really coming right out with it. Spit it out,” Keke explained. “Allow somebody to have consent. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with people’s unique relationships. I think we got to stop yucking other everybody’s yums. If somebody’s in an open marriage, if somebody has a swinging relationship, if somebody has a whatever, let them do that. And you ain’t got to be a part of it. But like people have things that work for them.”
This isn’t the only time Keke has had to navigate a surprise proposal recently. Just last month, a stranger interrupted a SXSW panel for her upcoming film I Love Boosters by getting down on one knee in front of the stage. The moment went viral as Keke sat alongside co-stars like Demi Moore and Naomi Ackie, trying to let the man down easy.
“I can’t marry you, I don’t know you, I’m so sorry,” she told him. “I’m so sorry, sir. No, it’s okay. Is this a prank?” Security eventually had to escort the man out of the building.
Whether it’s a celebrity couple or a random fan, Keke is proving she has no problem setting boundaries with a smile.
