Kendrick Lamar Receives Backlash After Calling Out White Woman for Saying the N-Word On Stage

#KendrickLamar is facing backlash after calling out a white woman for singing the n-word while on stage at his concert, as critics believe the woman was set up.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

On Sunday (May 20), Lamar invited a white woman on stage in Alabama to sing along to his 2012 hit “m.A.A.d city” where the n-word is said several times. While singing the song she left no lyric out – including the derogatory term. This prompted Lamar to interrupt.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, no, no, wait,” said Lamar mid-rap. “You have to bleep one single word.” After giving her a slight check, she apologized, claimed she didn’t realize she was saying the n-word and continued singing the song. Following the incident, the woman named Delaney, deleted her Twitter after being condemned by social media. Now others are taking her side claiming the rapper set her up as a publicity stunt and said he could have prevented an issue by telling her to not say the word.

Lamar has taken home 11 Grammys and six Billboards over the past weekend and is the owner of a Pulitzer Prize for his album “DAMN”. You’d think the last thing he’d need is attention and we’ve never known Lamar to be an attention-seeker.

The argument that many non-Blacks pose is their question of: Why can’t I use the n-word? In Lamar’s case: Why can’t I use the n-word if that’s how the song is written? The n-word conversation is a topic that many from the Black community feel doesn’t need to be addressed or questioned at all from anyone who isn’t categorized by the word or affected by its history. Just respected.
