Kendrick Lamar’s Surprise Album “GNX” Surpasses Expectations with Over 324,000 Units Sold

Kendrick Lamar’s surprise release, “GNX,” has taken the rap world by storm, far exceeding initial sales projections. Originally predicted to move an impressive 230,000 units in its first week, the album defied expectations, selling over 324,000 units.

This unprecedented achievement further cements Lamar’s status as one of the most influential and commercially successful artists of 2024. “GNX” has ignited intense discussions among fans and critics alike, with many speculating it to be a subtle continuation of his long-rumored feud with Drake, particularly the single, “Squabble Up,” which plays like a remix of his Drizzy diss, “Not Like Us.”

While no direct shots at Drake are overtly apparent, fans have dissected certain lines, interpreting them as cryptic jabs that only fuel the rivalry. One line that stands out on the track “Wacced Out Murals” takes aim at Drake’s mentor and collaborator, Lil Wayne.

“Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud. Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down,” Lamar rapped, referencing Wayne’s disappointment with not being chosen to perform at the Super Bowl over the West Coast star.

SZA and Roddy Ricch are amongst the features on “GNX,” which arrived shortly after Lamar received several Grammy nominations for “Not Like Us.” Though the hit record was not featured on the album, it is likely to make the Super Bowl setlist along with new heat from “GNX.”
