Cleveland Cavaliers center Kendrick Perkins and his wife, Vanity, were involved in what police are calling a verbal altercation on the side of a road in Westlake, Ohio, on Wednesday morning.
According to Westlake police, officers responded around 10 a.m. after a passerby called in a report. The caller said it looked like a woman was hitting a man who was trying to get out of a car, and that she appeared to be pulling him back in.
When officers arrived, Kendrick and Vanity were standing outside their SUV. Police say both of them told officers it was not a physical dispute, and no injuries were reported. No one was arrested and no charges have been filed. The Westlake city prosecutor is reviewing the case to decide whether any charges are warranted, and an update is expected Thursday.
The Cavaliers released a statement saying the team is aware of the police report. The team said there were no arrests or citations, there have been no accusations of wrongdoing, and Kendrick has cooperated fully with authorities. The team added that it has no further comment.
