31 Wildcat fans were arrested during a riot following the end of UK’s undefeated streak. Wisconsin defeated Kentucky 71-64 in the semifinals of the NCAA men’s college basketball tournament Final Four in Indianapolis and fans were mad!!! According to Lexington Police Department, several people were injured as rioters set fire to multiple objects, several fights broke out and crowds chanted anti-Wisconsin slogans on State Street, which is adjacent to the University of Kentucky’s Lexington Campus. If that wasn’t enough, they even turned on officers, yelling out “Fuck the police!” One man was arrested for fighting with police. I don’t know about you but this sounds like thug behavior to me.
I won’t say that these riots have not received nationwide coverage because I haven’t turned on my TV today. I will say a Google search has returned a lot of results, and that’s a good thing, I suppose. Unfortunate no tear gas was used…nor the use of the word “thug” to describe these supposed fans who lit fire to their city, injured members of their community and completely disregarded law enforcement.
