Kentucky Man Killed

A Kentucky man who was gunned down on the way home from witnessing the birth of his newborn twins has died.

20-year-old Tyrese Garvin was walking home around 6 p.m. from University Hospital in Louisville last Sunday when he was shot multiple times in what police are calling a random act of violence.

According to WAVE 3 News, the young father suffered from gunshot wounds to the head and body and was transported from Smoketown Neighborhood to the same hospital his twins were delivered earlier that day.

Apparently, different trauma surgeons and neurosurgeons were contacted by the family, but they were told by doctors that “there isn’t going to be a recovery.” Garvin spent several days in ICU at University Hospital, before he was pronounced dead just after 3 p.m. on Friday, his family says.

The newborns were taken to see their father before he died. The boy and girl were Garvin’s first children, and his family says he was excited about becoming a father.

“He was very excited at becoming a father,” a family member named Gail told reporters. “Then, something like this happens and his children will never get to know him. That’s sad.”

Louisville Metro Police have arrested three juveniles between the ages of 14 and 17 in connection to the shooting. The names of the suspects have not been released, because of their status as minors. Charges were not immediately available.
