The NBA has hit Kevin Durant with a $50,000 fine for his heated exchange with actor Michael Rapaport that was leaked on social media.
On Friday, the NBA said in a statement that “Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant has been fined $50,000 for using offensive and derogatory language on social media,” even though the conversation was conducted within private messages.
The “Higher Learning” actor shared the screenshots on March 30th via Twitter, writing, “receive threats and disgusting messages DAILY, but never in my wildest dreams did I think @KDTrey5 would be among them.”
In one message, KD threatens to spit in Rapaport’s face after the two were arguing over the way Durant conducted an interview. The Brooklyn Nets forward has since”acknowledged that his actions were inappropriate.” However, he does not want his words to define who he is as a person.
“That’s not what I want people to see from me. Hopefully, I can move past it,” Durrant said.
