Kevin Hart Says He’s “Done” Apologizing For Old Homophobic Tweets, Won’t Be Hosting The Oscars: “I’m Over It”

Kevin Hart says he is “over it” and will not be hosting the Oscars.

Hart stepped down from hosting the Academy Awards on December 7 just two days before he said he again would host after old homophobic tweets resurfaced on Twitter. The 39-year-old comedian sat down with the panel of “Good Morning America” on Wednesday and said “no” he will not be hosting the Oscars this year. Hart has apologized several times for his old comments, but now he says he’s “done.”

“I’m over it,” he told Strahan. “There’s no more conversation about it. I’m over that, I’m over the moment. I’m not giving no more explanation of who I am … I’m just done. If you didn’t [hear the apology], then I don’t know what you’re looking for.”

“I’m a good person,” he added. “I love to love. If you don’t see that, then that means it’s a problem with you. I have nothing else to prove.” Hart was possibly going to agree to the job after his sit-down with daytime talk show host, #EllenDeGeneres, who said she would give the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Science a call on Hart’s behalf.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Many have questioned Hart’s sincerity after some say he struggled with apologizing directly and clearly. CNN commentator, #DonLemon, called Hart’s apology insincere during his show, and many of members of the LGBTQ community and their supporters weren’t satisfied as well. At this time, the Academy still has not found a replacement for this year’s ceremony.
