Since Ciara and Russell Wilson went public with their relationship, they’ve made it pretty clear that they aren’t having sex. Russell originally made the statement while in church, a few short weeks after the couple was photographed in public for the first time.
Not everyone is buying Ciara and Russell’s celibacy, however. On an episode of Kocktails With Khloe, Khloe Kardashian implied that Ciara and Russell’s celibacy-until-marriage was more for show than it is for religion.
“There’s this trend that’s going around in Hollywood right now, it’s the vow of celibacy,” said Khloe. “With all due respect to Ciara, she has a baby. It’s not like we don’t know whether she’s a virgin or not. None of us would know about [their vow of celibacy] if they weren’t publicly telling us. So, who are you trying to prove this to? Is it a look?”
To be fair, no one knows whether Ciara and Russell are actually having sex or not. They say they aren’t, so I’ll take their word for it. But who are we to judge them for NOT having sex before marriage? Sure, Ciara has a child, but maybe she has decided to be celibate and try something new in her relationship …. since obviously giving these men sex didn’t work for her. Celibacy and virginity are not exactly the same thing. When Russell made the announcement, he was in a church, of course he will say they are celibate. What does celibacy do for popularity? Other than decrease the number of unwanted pregnancies and STDS?
Considering that Khloe comes from a family obsessed with oversharing, I can see how she would come to the conclusion that everything is for a “show,” but there’s no bad spin you can put on celibacy. It’s not like Ciara is chastising other women for having sex. There’s definitely not a trend of no-sex in Hollywood.
