Lee Najjar, better known as Kim Zolciak’s “Big Poppa” from Real Housewives of Atlanta, spent a night in jail this week after missing a court date. I wonder if Kim chipped in on his bail.
For the record, Big Poppa isn’t in trouble for anything serious. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Atlanta real estate investor was arrested Tuesday on a bench warrant issued after he failed to show up in Gwinnett County Recorder’s Court in July.
The case is about a storm drain. Najjar, 55, was cited in January for failing to maintain a storm water system on property he owns at the corner of Jimmy Carter Boulevard and U.S. 29. In May he was ordered to pay $75,000 for violating the county’s soil erosion and sediment control ordinance. Apparently that wasn’t enough to get him to court.
He was taken to the Gwinnett County jail and released Wednesday afternoon.
RHOA fans remember Big Poppa as the man Kim never showed on camera but talked about constantly. He was the married real estate mogul behind the cars, jewelry and shopping sprees during her first two seasons. He was never shy about flaunting his money either. Back in 2009, he showed off his Atlanta mansion on MTV’s “Teen Cribs.”
Lately the money hasn’t been flowing like it used to. The AJC reports that Najjar has struggled financially in recent years, including losing Union Station Mall in south Fulton County to foreclosure in early 2011.
Kim has long since moved on. She married Atlanta Falcons player Kroy Biermann last November.
