Kimora Lee Simmons is facing another public turning point as husband Tim Leissner has filed for divorce after more than a decade of marriage. Court records reportedly obtained by E! News show the petition was submitted April 20, with “irreconcilable differences” listed as the reason for the split. The couple married in March 2014, bringing their 12-year union to a legal crossroads just before Leissner begins a two-year prison sentence.
Leissner is also seeking joint custody of the pair’s 11-year-old son, Wolfe, while requesting spousal support from Simmons. He has additionally asked the court to block any future alimony payments to her, signaling what could become a larger financial dispute as proceedings continue. Simmons has not publicly addressed the filing.
The divorce arrives after years of scrutiny surrounding Leissner’s role in the global 1MDB corruption scandal. He pleaded guilty in 2018 to charges tied to the case, which U.S. authorities said involved the misappropriation of roughly $4.5 billion from Malaysia’s state investment fund. During sentencing, he expressed remorse for his conduct.
Simmons has also been making headlines over business matters. She recently said she is dropping the Simmons surname after criticism surrounding ex-husband Russell Simmons. On the Aspire With Emma Grede podcast, she said Baby Phat sold for more than $100 million, while she received around $20 million or less and “missed all of the preliminary conversations” entirely then.
Now the latest split opens another chapter for the fashion mogul as family, legal, and financial questions continue to unfold in public view over the coming months and likely beyond. Observers expect continued attention as both sides prepare for upcoming hearings and filings ahead soon.

There seems to be an internal but not recognizable disease that destroys marriages recently. Any ideas?
