Late last week, Kodak Black was denied bond in his federal weapons case after his Miami arrest triggered a revocation in his South Carolina sexual assault case. Although at the time, the ruling was temporary, on Wednesday, a judge doubled down on the decision, forcing Black to remain behind bars until trial.
In the hearing before Judge Federico Moreno, prosecutors said Black falsified information on firearm applications in two separate instances, in which he illegally purchased a 9 mm handgun, a .380-caliber handgun and a semiautomatic Mini Draco.
Though Black claimed to have needed the guns for security threats and other rivals, officials said one of the guns was found at the scene of a shooting in Pompano Beach. To make matters worse, Black is also facing charges in other states, including his sexual assault case in South Carolina.
As a result, Judge Moreno overturned the initial ruling to grant Black release on a $550,000 bond and house arrest and instead approved the appeal, citing the rapper’s weapons of choice as one of his concerns. In fact, according to WPLG, the judge also called Black a “danger to the community,” as he highlighted Black’s inability to stay out of trouble.
“I’m very concerned with the type of guns he wanted to get a hold of….and that he has a prior [criminal history],” Moreno said, according to the Miami Herald. “He was out on bond [from the South Carolina case], and he committed an offense.”
