Krispy Kreme Drops 13-Cent Deal for Friday the 13th

Chula Vista, USA - April 29, 2011: Red and green Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Sign as viewed from the sidewalk. The building exterior is made of stone with blue awnings for each store window. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts have been in business serving doughnuts and coffee since 1937. Krispy Kreme Doughnut stores operate in 14 countries around the globe.

Krispy Kreme took special care of first responders on Thursday by giving them free doughnuts and a cup of coffee.

The promotion was reserved for National First Responders Day, a day of observance falling on October 28th that honors police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and 911 operators who dedicate their lives to saving others.

Krispy Kreme Chief Marketing Officer Dave Skena said the doughnut and coffee giveaway was the company’s way of showing appreciation to the selfless people who work tirelessly to keep citizens safe.

“We’re thankful for them every day, and it’s our honor to celebrate them with this gesture,” Skena stated.

First responders had to show their job badges at participating locations to get the complimentary treats and drinks. To sweeten the deal, Krispy Kreme allowed first responders to combine this promotion with another one in place that gives anyone vaccinated a free doughnut. While the free doughnuts for first responders ended Thursday, the vaccination promo will run until the end of the year.

Krispy Kreme was not the only food retailer to pay homage to the men and women who come to our rescue every day. Budweiser also bought beers for first responders who went on ABeerOnBud.com and got a voucher for a free brew at a local bar.
