A special Krispy Kreme deal could turn Friday into the sweetest and cheapest office run of the summer.

On Friday, July 17, customers can purchase a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for only 89 cents after buying another dozen at regular price.
The limited promotion celebrates the company’s 89th birthday and will be available at participating locations for one day only. That means anyone hoping to take advantage of the offer should make plans now instead of waiting until the weekend.
There is an important catch behind the headline grabbing price. Customers must first purchase any regularly priced dozen before they can add a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for 89 cents.
The promotion can be redeemed inside participating shops and through drive thru service. Customers ordering in person or at the drive thru can receive up to two discounted dozens per guest. Those using online pickup or delivery will face a smaller limit. Online doughnut shoppers can receive one discounted dozen with their qualifying purchase.
Even with the required full price purchase, the promotion creates an easy opportunity for families, coworkers and friend groups to stock up without paying the normal price for every box. Anyone who buys one qualifying dozen could leave with 24 doughnuts while paying only 89 cents for the second box before applicable taxes and fees.
The company framed the birthday promotion as a thank you to the customers who have supported the brand across generations.
“Every Krispy Kreme birthday is really a celebration of our fans,” the company said in a statement.
“Offering Original Glazed dozens for just 89 cents is our way of saying thank you to the guests who make Krispy Kreme part of their celebrations, traditions and everyday sweet moments,” the company added.
The decision to center the celebration around Original Glazed doughnuts also connects the promotion to the company’s earliest days. Founder Vernon Rudolph opened the original Krispy Kreme operation in Winston Salem, North Carolina, in 1937.
Rudolph reportedly cut a hole into an exterior wall of the shop so he could sell fresh Original Glazed doughnuts directly to people on the sidewalk. That simple approach helped establish the warm doughnut experience that remains tied to the brand nearly nine decades later.
The company said Rudolph’s original vision eventually developed into a global business with shops in more than 40 countries. Krispy Kreme maintains that sharing freshly made doughnuts remains central to its identity despite its international growth.
“While Krispy Kreme has continued to innovate and bring new experiences to fans around the world, it has never lost sight of what made it famous: the joy of sharing a warm, melt-in-your-mouth Original Glazed doughnut, especially when the iconic Hot Light is on,” the company said.
The deal arrives as food prices continue to make customers more selective about restaurant visits and impulse purchases. While this promotion still requires customers to purchase a full price dozen, the 89 cent add on could provide enough doughnuts for a gathering, workplace or weekend event at a significantly reduced combined cost.
Timing will matter. The birthday promotion is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, July 17, and the discounted dozens are subject to participation and purchase limits. Customers should also remember that delivery orders may include service charges or other fees that are separate from the promotional price.
Those planning to order for a group may get the most value by visiting a participating shop or using the drive thru, since those customers can receive up to two discounted Original Glazed dozens with the necessary qualifying purchases. Online customers will be limited to one discounted dozen, according to People.
The Krispy Kreme deal is not a free doughnut giveaway, and customers should not arrive expecting to purchase a standalone dozen for 89 cents. The discount only becomes available after the required regular price dozen is purchased.
Still, getting 12 Original Glazed doughnuts for less than one dollar is the kind of offer that can create long lines and heavy online demand. Anyone planning to participate should check their nearest Krispy Kreme location, decide whether they are ordering in person or online and be ready before the promotion disappears at the end of Friday.
