Kyle Rittenhouse

On Tuesday, Kyle Rittenhouse entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment.

Rittenhouse, now 18, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide, and attempted first-degree intentional homicide after shooting three people and killing two during protests over the summer following the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Rittenhouse is charged with killing Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum and of wounding Gaige Grosskreutz.

NPR  reports that he appeared virtually, while free on a $2 million bond, from his attorney Mark Richards’s office. His $2 million bond was posted through donations he received.

Rittenhouse is next scheduled to appear in court on March 10 for a pretrial conference.

Rittenhouse crossed state lines from his home in Illinois to Wisconsin to join militia groups intending to help local law enforcement protect property from looting during the unrest in August.
