Kyrie Irving made a historic move when he hired his stepmom to represent him. Shetellia Riley Irving is the first Black woman representing an active NBA player, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, who broke the story.

Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving has hired Shetellia Riley Irving as his new agent. Shetellia Riley Irving is believed to currently be the only Black woman representing an active NBA player.

Riley Irving currently serves as the vice president of ad sales at BET.

Roc Nation and Jeff Wechsler previously represented the All-Star guard. He has the option to become a free agent after this season but has a $36.6 million player option to remain with the Brooklyn Nets for the 2022-23 season.

According to Sports Illustrated, Irving appeared in just 15 games for the Nets this year after refusing to get a COVID-19 shot. The unvaccinated Nets star has been unable to play this season due to the mandates.

Irving averages 25.1 points per game, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists despite his lack of playing time.
