Anthony Edwards married longtime partner Shannon Jackson in Minnesota, quietly entering his husband era without a public announcement, engagement rollout, or wedding photo dump.
According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, Minnesota marriage records show that Edwards and Jackson were legally married on July 16, 2026. The certificate was issued in Hennepin County and identifies Jackson as the mother of Edwards’ daughter, Aislynn.
The news began gaining traction after fans noticed Edwards wearing a black band on his left ring finger during an appearance at Fanatics Fest in New York. Edwards attended the event on July 17, just one day after the marriage date listed in the Minnesota Official Marriage System.
Neither Edwards nor Jackson has publicly addressed the marriage, and the couple has not shared any confirmed photos or details from a ceremony. There is also no verified information regarding a wedding location, guest list, proposal, or reception. For now, the public marriage record is doing all the talking.
While the marriage news may feel sudden, their relationship is far from new.
Edwards and Jackson first made their relationship public in 2020, the same year the Minnesota Timberwolves selected him with the first overall pick in the NBA Draft. Jackson introduced the relationship on Instagram with a photo of the couple embracing and a caption that made it clear she planned to be beside him for the long run.
Jackson has remained a visible supporter throughout Edwards’ NBA career. She has frequently attended Timberwolves games, posted his highlights, celebrated his accomplishments, and worn custom clothing featuring his name and team branding.
Edwards has also acknowledged her support publicly.
In January 2023, Edwards delivered a 44 point performance against the Houston Rockets and dedicated the night to Jackson shortly before her birthday. He blew a kiss in her direction following the game and explained why he wanted to put on a memorable performance.
“My girlfriend’s birthday is in two days, man, she is going out of the country, so I had to put on a show for her.”
Their relationship reached another milestone when Jackson announced that they were expecting a child together in December 2023. The couple celebrated with a lavish baby shower in February 2024 that featured white and rose gold decorations, desserts bearing the initials AJE, and appearances from several of Edwards’ Timberwolves teammates.
Jackson and Edwards welcomed their daughter, Aislynn, on March 1, 2024.
Her arrival became one of the most memorable personal moments captured in Netflix’s “Starting 5.” Edwards left the Timberwolves’ game against the Sacramento Kings early and rushed to a Minneapolis hospital while Jackson was giving birth. Cameras captured him arriving with his shirt off and his clothes barely together after leaving the arena in a hurry.
“I couldn’t put my s**t on. S**t. I was in a rush.”
The moment gave viewers a rare look at Edwards outside of basketball and showed the beginning of his life as a father with Jackson.
Jackson later reflected on what their daughter brought into their lives while celebrating Aislynn’s first birthday. She shared a tribute describing the peace her daughter had given the family.
Jackson is also the mother of a son, Krue Karter, whom she shares with rapper Chief Keef. She regularly shares moments involving both children and has described motherhood as one of the most important parts of her identity.
The couple has continued appearing together as Edwards’ profile has grown beyond the basketball court. Edwards and Jackson attended Prada’s Spring and Summer 2027 presentation during Milan Men’s Fashion Week on June 21, 2026. The two posed together after the show, less than one month before the date listed on their marriage record.
Their relationship has not existed without public scrutiny.
In October 2024, Jackson addressed social media commentary surrounding Edwards’ paternity case involving Ayesha Howard. According to Page Six, Jackson appeared on Instagram Live and pushed back against people expecting her to publicly unravel over the situation.
“They say I’m one of God’s strongest soldiers … y’all just finding out.”
She also dismissed what she described as fake outrage before telling viewers that her brief response was the most they would receive from her.
Despite the online speculation surrounding Edwards’ personal life, Jackson continued supporting him publicly. She attended a Timberwolves game with Aislynn just days after addressing the controversy and posted photos from her courtside seat while wearing a diamond chain bearing Edwards’ nickname, Ant.
That history gives their marriage more context than the ring that initially caught fans’ attention.
Jackson has been present through Edwards’ rise from the first overall draft pick to one of the NBA’s biggest stars. Their years together have included career milestones, international travel, public celebrations, the birth of their daughter, family moments captured by Netflix, and no shortage of outside opinions.
Now, Minnesota records indicate the longtime couple has quietly added marriage to that list.
They may not have given social media a wedding rollout, but Anthony Edwards and Shannon Jackson appear to have made their commitment official on their own terms.
