L.A. Reid reached a settlement on January 12, 2026, the same day jury selection was set to begin in the federal sexual assault lawsuit brought by Drew Dixon, bringing a sudden halt to a case that had been inching toward trial for months.
Dixon first sued Reid in 2023, accusing the longtime music executive of sexual assault and alleging that the harm followed her professionally. In court filings, she said the situation cost her producer points and career opportunities tied to artists, including Ye and John Legend. Reid has consistently denied the allegations.
The case had already shown signs of strain long before trial week. On July 9, 2025, Reid’s counsel appeared before U.S. District Judge Jeannette A. Vargas in the Southern District of New York seeking to withdraw, citing Reid’s failure to pay legal fees.
Fast forward to January 12. Instead of jury selection, the courtroom doors were locked. Shortly after noon, a press conference confirmed the case had settled. Dixon, her mother, and her legal team praised the decision, without disclosing the specifics of the settlement.
