Supercharge Your Summer: Why A Summer Bucket List Is A Good Idea

Labor Day has long been viewed as the unofficial conclusion of summer, though that doesn’t mean you need to put an end to your outside fun.

The holiday lands on the first Monday of September and is countdown time before the season transitions to fall.  However, thanks to climate change and persistently warmer conditions, certain parts of the country don’t see an immediate drastic transition to cooler weather.  September and early October offer warm, sunny days perfect for outdoor activities, especially in Florida and California.  Many residents of both states are typically able to continue enjoying the beaches and pool parties without worrying about the cold sneaking up.

Even for those regions that do get noticeably chillier after Labor Day, music festivals don’t die out with summer.  One lively concert is the Sudden Little Thrills Music Festival in Pittsburgh.  Kicking off on September 7th, this two-day show includes headliners SZA and Wiz Khalifa.  Another fun-filled show is the Music at the Intersection Festival, which takes place from September 14-15 in the Grand Center Arts District of St. Louis, Missouri.  This year’s headliners include Big Boi, Lettuce, Chingy, and Chaka Khan.

For sports fans, most collegiate football teams open their season in Week 1 over Labor Day weekend.  NFL games start back up on September 5th, with the Baltimore Ravens playing the Kansas City Chiefs.  Attending the games and tailgating brings everyone together with the added excitement of game-day energy.

Festivals, sporting events, and beaches are viable options as the warm weather lingers. As you bid farewell to summer’s leisure, the heat can live on for additional weeks following Labor Day, typically marked by cookouts, all-white parties, and brunches.
