Lamar Odom is reportedly bringing in some big legal firepower. TMZ reported that the former NBA champ has hired attorney Robert Shapiro, who was a key figure in the 1995 O.J. Simpson murder trial defense, to help with his DUI case.
Odom was arrested in California late last week on suspicion of DUI. He was reportedly pulled over for driving in a serpentine manner, held on $15,000 bail and released the next morning. Shapiro is described in reports as a longtime friend of Kris Jenner, Odom’s mother in law, and has been an anti drug advocate since losing his son to an overdose in 2005.
Separately, Radar Online published a video interview with a man who says he was Odom’s drug dealer. His face and voice were hidden and he was not named. In the interview, the man claimed he sold cocaine to Odom and saw him use it on several occasions since 2010. He also estimated Odom spent more than $50,000 over roughly three years.
Those are unverified claims from an anonymous source, and Radar has not independently confirmed them. The reports we saw did not include a response from Odom or his representatives. Odom has not been convicted of anything in connection with his DUI arrest. We will pass along any response as it comes in.
