Thirteen victims in the Larry Nassar’s sexual assault case are now seeking $130 million from the FBI.

On Wednesday, the victims filed tort claims against the FBI. The accusers claim the agency mishandled the case, which resulted in 8 more months of abuse.

The DOJ released reports that showed the FBI’s Indianapolis and Los Angeles field offices failing to investigate the abuse allegations in 2015. John Manly, the lawyer representing Nassar’s victims, says the Indianapolis office didn’t begin investigating until eight months after learning about the allegations. During this time, Manly says Nassar assaulted about 120 women.

“We spend so much energy and resources encouraging children to come forward when they have been abused. So the fact that people came forward to the most powerful law enforcement agency in the world and were rebuffed. It’s a slap in the face,” says an attorney representing the 13 claimants.

Each of the thirteen victims asks for $10 million each from the FBI. The identities of the claimants have not yet been revealed.

If you’re not aware, more than four years ago, Nassar was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison. Nassar was found guilty of sexual misconduct by using his position as a USA Gymnastics physician to sexually assault hundreds of athletes, including world-renowned gymnasts like Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, and Aly Raisman.
