It seems to be a generational and ideological difference when it comes to Latinos and their opinions on Donald Trump. Many are split on whether it is good or bad for Trump to visit the city of El Paso following the August 3, 2019, massive attack on Latinos.

According to the Washington Post, many think his appearance will only rally hate groups and bring them further into the forefront, inciting more fear and discomfort amongst the residents of the largely Hispanic city.

However, elders in the area or those who have longtime citizenship, seem to embrace the traditional Republican beliefs, believing the visit will not pose a threat, stating it is not Trump’s fault for the vicious attack.

Trump’s visit is part of his campaign for President 2020, focusing on Latinos in swing states that can make or break his reelection despite them still being a minority among his supporters.

The article quoted various Latino citizens of different ages with mixed opinions on the matter, some full of fear while others are full of hope.

Although Trump’s remarks against Latinos seem biased and disheartening to many, there are some Latinos who will still vote in favor of him due to his business background and policies, being completely unmoved by his words.
