Lauryn Hill and Nas are getting together for the PowerNomics Tour, which was inspired by a book written by Dr. Claud Anderson. The book, of course entitled “PowerNomics, focuses on empowering the black community through economics.

The tour will help raise funds for things like education, health, technology, and other areas that will help build black businesses and increase assets in the black community.

In a recent interview Lauryn stated “My interests have always centred around encouraging empowerment, and focusing on ways to help heal, repair, educate and promote enfranchisement to the disenfranchised.” Which is evident in most of her work. Nas also stated “PowerNomics tour is our way of being a part of the solution. We are here to lend a hand where it is needed and hopefully to inspire. I’m a part of a mission to help build a more diverse tech industry and to encourage my people to see beyond what they believe is in their reach.”

The PowerNomics 17-date tour reportedly kicked off today in Chicago and ends in early Oct. 2017.
