LeSean McCoy of the Philadelphia Eagles is fighting back in a lawsuit over an alleged party bus incident, and he is pointing to text messages as part of his defense.
A woman suing under the name Mary Roe filed the case last month. She claims that after a December 2012 trip on McCoy’s party bus from Philadelphia to New York, she was sprayed with a drink, objected, and was humiliated and removed from the bus. She is seeking more than $50,000 from McCoy and a man she believes is his bodyguard. McCoy has denied the allegations and says he is the victim of an extortion attempt.
According to TMZ, McCoy has now filed new documents that include a text message Roe allegedly sent to another woman. In it, she reportedly wrote that McCoy did not physically touch her. TMZ also reports that the same messages describe bruises and a lump on her head, and say she believed McCoy encouraged his bodyguard to rough her up. She also reportedly wrote that she needed witnesses to back that up.
McCoy’s side says the texts undercut her case. Roe’s side has not been shown responding to the texts in the TMZ report, and the court will decide what the messages mean. We will update you as the case moves forward.
