Lil Twist Says Lil Wayne Booted Him From “BedRock” Video After He Racked Up a $70K Studio Bill

Lil Twist says Lil Wayne kept him out of Young Money’s “BedRock” music video after he ran up a $70,000 recording studio bill. The rapper recently shared the story during a livestream with N3on, revealing that Wayne used punishments to hold artists accountable during the label’s early years.

During the Thursday, October 22 conversation, Twist recalled spending thousands of dollars recording music without realizing how quickly the charges were accumulating. According to the rapper, Wayne became frustrated with his spending and decided he would not participate in the video for one of Young Money’s biggest records.

“Wayne was like, why Twist spend $70K in the studio,” Twist said. “He was mad at me… I wasn’t paying attention to the invoices, so I couldn’t be in the video; that was my punishment… Wayne used to play bad punishment games”

Twist described the incident as an example of how Wayne disciplined artists under his leadership. Rather than discussing a financial penalty or repayment arrangement, Twist focused on losing an opportunity to appear alongside his labelmates.

His explanation also clarifies something about his absence from “BedRock.” Although the song does not feature a verse from Twist, his account specifically identifies being excluded from the music video as his punishment.

Released in 2009, “BedRock” brought together Lil Wayne, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, Gudda Gudda and Jae Millz, with Lloyd delivering the chorus. The single reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming one of the label’s defining commercial successes.

The record appeared on Young Money’s compilation album, “We Are Young Money,” released in December 2009. MusicBrainz’s album credits show that Twist was still part of the project, appearing alongside Lil Chuckee on “Girl I Got You” and participating in the group’s closing track, “Finale.”

While Twist remained involved in the compilation, the “BedRock” video gave several of his labelmates additional national exposure during an important period for the collective. Drake and Nicki Minaj were building the momentum that would eventually establish them as two of hip hop’s biggest solo artists.

Twist was also developing his career under Wayne’s guidance. The Dallas rapper had joined Young Money as a teenager and was widely recognized as one of Wayne’s younger protégés. His latest account offers a different look at their relationship, particularly the expectations Wayne placed on artists who had access to professional recording studios and label resources.

The rapper did not provide documentation of the $70,000 bill in the circulated remarks, and Wayne has not independently confirmed the punishment described. The details currently rest on Twist’s recollection.

Despite the story, Lil Twist is still publicly associated with Young Money in 2026.

When Wayne introduced a new generation of Young Money artists in 2025, Billboard identified Twist and Cory Gunz as longtime members continuing with the label. The updated roster included Jay Jones, Allan Cubas, Domiio, Euro, Lucifena and Poppy, alongside established names.

Billboard also reported that Twist participated in Wayne’s Young Money Radio roster introduction and discussed experimenting with alternative hip hop and rock music through a live band.

Their professional relationship has continued beyond those appearances. On February 13, 2026, Twist and Wayne released their collaborative single “Addict.”

The two also appeared together in the official “Addict” music video, released in April 2026. Director Logan Meis filmed the visual in Los Angeles. Nearly 17 years after Twist says he was denied a place in the “BedRock” video, he and Wayne were sharing the screen for another collaboration.

Twist’s July 31, 2026 single “BM JR JR” also carries a Young Money Entertainment LLC.

The relationship has experienced public frustration before. In October 2014, The Boombox reported that Twist criticized his management over delays involving his “Golden Child 2” mixtape. He expressed frustration about being unable to release music and discussed changing his professional team.

More recently, Twist reflected on his history with Wayne during an April 2026 appearance on Shirley Ju’s “Shirley’s Temple.” He discussed how Wayne discovered him as a young performer, witnessing Drake’s signing and spending time with Wayne during the label’s rise.

Twist has not indicated that the “BedRock” punishment ended his relationship with Wayne.
