Lil Uzi Vert Responds To Korean Artist Who Claims He Stole His Artwork For His Single, ‘That Way’

A Korean artist is accusing rapper Lil Uzi Vert of stealing his artwork and using it for his Backstreet Boys sampled single, “That Way.” However, Uzi, being the national treasure that he is, is taking steps to make good on the mishap.

The Korean artist who runs the hugeriver8 account on Instagram posted a photo of their painting next to the “That Way” cover, which shows an unquestionable resemblance. Many users began to tag Uzi in the post, which ultimately caught the rapper’s attention.

The Way vs Lil UZi

“I am very upset that I have to write such an article. I saw Lil uzi vert’s latest album cover art, and it was very similar to my painting. My picture was posted on my blog six years ago, and it is possible to use it for profile pictures or non-commercial purposes, but it is not allowed to use anything else. Now I’m very embarrassed and don’t want to let this go,” the artist wrote in his Instagram caption.

Uzi was not upset by being called out. In fact, he liked the post and assured the artist that he would make arrangements to compensate them.

“Hey, I’m not a mean person or a thief I get inspired a lot. If you want Money, I will have my team contact and give you Money. Signed… Baby Pluto. P.S. You are a great artist.” Uzi replied on the post.

Detroitmir313/@artxsti, who is the creator of the “That Way” cover art, also took to IG to clear up any speculation that they were upset at Uzi. They also indicated that they, too, were looking to compensate the artist for their original artwork.⠀⠀⠀

“No, I’m not mad at Uzi, and yes, I’m gonna make sure to make the original artist happy,” Detroitmir313 confirmed on their Instagram stories.
