Lil Wayne’s Engagement to Madi Cannon Just Got Messy: Fans Spot Ex Denise Bidot Backstage With Him

Some people are questioning Lil Wayne’s relationship status after claims surfaced that his former girlfriend, Denise Bidot, was spotted backstage with the rapper. The alleged sighting has fueled speculation that Wayne may have reunited with Bidot, despite recently announcing his engagement to 23-year-old Madi Cannon.

Neither Wayne nor either woman has publicly confirmed a breakup or reconciliation.

The speculation comes just weeks after the 44-year-old rapper surprised fans by introducing Cannon as his fiancée.

Wayne revealed the engagement in late September while congratulating fellow Hot Boys member B.G. on his engagement to Brooke Jones.

During the video, Wayne turned toward Cannon and announced, “And I’m marrying this one. This is Madison. This is my fianceé. Let us know what color we wearing. I’m the best man, ya heard me!

The announcement was especially surprising because Wayne had previously denied engagement rumors involving Cannon.

In May 2026, TMZ reported that the rapper had quietly proposed to a woman in her twenties from Indiana. Fans subsequently identified her as Cannon, a social media personality from Kokomo.

However, Wayne addressed the speculation in July, revealing that the two had separated.

“No, I am not engaged. I had a beautiful thing going with an amazing person,” Wayne said in the Instagram video. He explained that he did not want to become a burden to someone he cared about.

By September, the two had apparently reconciled, with Wayne publicly identifying Cannon as his future wife.

Wayne discussed potential wedding performers during the October 7 episode of “The Joint Venture Show.” He named Anita Baker as his first choice, followed by Keith Sweat or Babyface.

Cannon also reportedly displayed a large yellow diamond engagement ring on Instagram in October.

Still, the latest speculation surrounding Denise Bidot has brought attention back to Wayne’s complicated romantic history.

The rapper and Bidot first publicly confirmed their relationship in June 2020. According to the Miami Herald, the model shared affectionate photographs of them together, revealing their romance during the pandemic.

Their relationship experienced several breakups and reconciliations.

In April 2021, Wayne fueled marriage speculation after sharing a cryptic social media message about forever and referencing “The Carters.”

However, he eventually clarified the situation during an Instagram Live conversation with Nicki Minaj.

“I did not get married,” Wayne stated.

Although some fans have described Bidot as his former fiancée, their engagement was never publicly confirmed.

In January 2022, Bidot confirmed another breakup during an interview with HOLA! USA, explaining that she was moving forward with her life and returning to New York.

However, their relationship reportedly resumed before another highly publicized separation in May 2025.

Bidot accused Wayne of ending their relationship through a text message on Mother’s Day and forcing her and her daughter from their shared residence.

She also made allegations of emotional and physical abuse against the rapper.

Given their history, the latest backstage rumor has understandably raised questions among fans.

For now, Wayne’s most recent public statements continue to identify Cannon as the woman he intends to marry.
