Lil Wayne just walked away from a serious lawsuit with a court win, while his former bodyguard Christian Carlos is now facing a $29,225 sanctions bill. The lawsuit ended Wednesday when a Los Angeles judge entered judgment in Wayne’s favor, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. The outlet reports the court had previously awarded Wayne $26,000, then added another $3,225 when Carlos’ case was thrown out.
That outcome gives this case a different headline than the one it started with. Carlos filed the lawsuit in December 2023, accusing Wayne of assaulting him and brandishing a firearm during a confrontation at the rapper’s Hidden Hills-area home in 2021. Wayne denied the allegations, and the court has now closed the case in his favor.
The original complaint carried heavy claims. RadarOnline reported in 2023 that Carlos accused Wayne of threatening, assaulting, and battering him while allegedly pointing a semiautomatic rifle at him during a December 1, 2021 incident at the rapper’s Los Angeles home. Carlos also claimed he suffered emotional distress, PTSD, physical and emotional injuries, medical bills, lost wages, and reduced earning capacity.
The alleged dispute was tied to accusations over leaked photos. It was heavily reported that Carlos claimed Wayne accused him of leaking photos, demanded he leave the property, and the alleged confrontation followed. RadarOnline also confirmed that law enforcement sources previously said a security team member had accused Wayne of pulling out an AR-15 after a dispute over alleged leaked photos, though someone close to Wayne denied the incident happened.
The case also faced procedural pressure before this final ruling. In June 2024, Carlos was fighting to keep the lawsuit from being tossed over a filing-date issue connected to California’s two-year statute of limitations. According to that report, Carlos’ side argued the complaint was submitted electronically on December 1, 2023, the last day he was eligible to file, but was later rejected because of a discrepancy.
Now, the case has flipped from a public accusation against Wayne into a legal loss for the former bodyguard. With judgment entered for the rapper and sanctions attached, the courtroom ending landed far from where the lawsuit began.
