Lil Wayne is pushing back on a paternity judgment and asking a court for a DNA test.
According to The Blast, a woman named Keiotia filed a paternity case in August 2015 asking a court to legally recognize the rapper as the father of her teenage son. She claimed the two had a relationship back in 2001.
The Blast reports that after Wayne did not respond to the case, a default judgment was entered and he was ordered to pay $5,000 a month starting in January 2016, plus medical bills.
About a year later, Wayne filed new court documents. He says he was never served with papers for the original court date, which is why he did not show up. He also says the judgment was obtained by fraud and that the allegations against him are false. He is requesting a paternity test and asking a judge to pause the monthly payments until the results come back.
“In June of 2001 I was residing in New Orleans, but my professional commitments required me to travel a great deal throughout the United States,” Wayne said in the filing.
He also states that he does not believe he is the biological father, that he never acknowledged the child, and that he did not know of the birth until he was served with the petition. Wayne adds that he is the father of four children he has supported since birth and has never before been involved in a child support case.
The claims have not been proven by a paternity test. Keiotia’s response to the new filing was not included in The Blast’s report.
