Plies Drops Copyright Lawsuit Against Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, Cardi B, and Soulja Boy

Plies Sues Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, Cardi B, and Soulja Boy

Megan Thee Stallion’s producer, Max Julian, didn’t waste time responding to Plies’ lawsuit that accuses him, Megan, GloRilla, and Soulja Boy of stealing parts from Plies’ 2008 song Me & My Goons without clearance.

On Wednesday, Julian, aka Lil Ju, took to social media to set the record straight and defend his work.

According to Lil Ju, Wanna Be—the song in question—properly credits the original sample to Big E, who actually produced My Dougie for Soulja Boy back in 2006.

“‘My Dougie’ came out in 2006, ‘Me & My Goons’ came out in 2008,” he tweeted. “Big E, the producer of ‘My Dougie,’ credited on ‘Wanna Be.’”

Additionally, he noted that Soulja Boy’s Pretty Boy Swag itself pulls from My Dougie, questioning why Plies is targeting their song when his own might not even be fully original.

“Me & My Goons [is] literally not even the single from that Plies album,” he added, suggesting there’s no solid ground for Plies’ claims.

It’s clear Lil Ju isn’t too pressed about the lawsuit and he’s confident that all sample credits are in place.
