Disney beat out its competitors and paid $75 million for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s eleven-time Tony award-winning musical, ”Hamilton.”
Along with the deal came worldwide rights and the promise of a theatrical release, globally. The film is 2 hours and 40 minutes long.
According to Deadline, Miranda himself said, “… the movie allows people to avoid having to pay $500 a seat.”
The purchase is a major investment success for legendary Disney. As expected, post-theatre-run, the sensational project will be titled on the brand’s streaming site Disney Plus.
Director, Tommy Kail directed both the screenplay and the stage musical. With the film, Kail took extensive measures to ensure the cinematic quality reflected the essence of the stage show, creating multiple angles with live-performance footage and some rehearsed shots.
”Hamilton: An American Musical” is set for release, Fall 2021.
