Former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast member Lisa Wu is facing police accusations after an old friend claimed she was tricked out of a house. The real estate dispute has resulted in an official police report, with both sides sharing completely different accounts of what actually happened.
The drama started when Lisa’s former friend, Norma Denise Mitchem, filed a police report claiming theft by deception over a soured property deal. Documents obtained by TMZ show that Norma wanted to purchase a home but could not get approved for the loan. Lisa allegedly stepped in to help by purchasing the property through an LLC.
According to Norma’s nephew, the agreement was for Lisa to transfer the deed to Norma once specific liens were resolved.
However, Norma and her nephew claim the former RHOA star went back on her word. Instead of transferring the property, they allege Lisa attempted to sell the house back to them at an inflated price. Norma now claims she was defrauded because she is paying for a home that does not have her name on the paperwork.
Lisa denies the allegations and claims she is the one who was taken advantage of. While she admits she bought the house, she states that Norma failed to keep up her end of the financial agreement.
She claims Norma made a couple of payments and promised she could afford the property, but stopped communicating entirely after Lisa refused to put the deed in the name of Norma’s son.
According to Lisa, Norma is still living in the house without making payments, leaving her stuck with the financial burden. She maintains that she was simply trying to do a favor for a friend.
“For more than 30 years, I’ve built my career and reputation with integrity, professionalism, and hard work,” Lisa said in a statement. “ I have absolutely no involvement in fraudulent activity of any kind, and the idea that I would be implicated simply because of people I know or professional relationships is preposterous.”
