A Louisiana mother was arrested after a reported incident at a Baton Rouge middle school, according to local news outlets.
WAFB and The Advocate reported that the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office was called to Westlake Middle School on a Monday morning in November 2019 for a “major disturbance.” The assistant principal told the school’s deputy that Lacey, a parent, was on campus and appeared upset. Reports said she had come to the school to talk to officials about threatening phone calls her daughter had been getting from another student.
According to the reports, Lacey was told to wait in the assistant principal’s office but left the room and was later seen in a physical altercation with a student. Students who witnessed it told reporters she also encouraged her own daughter to fight another student. Newsweek reported that school staff did not know she was on campus.
Lacey gave a different account. She said she never made it to the front office, and that she stepped in because she saw her daughter in a fight and was trying to break it up.
Online arrest records showed she was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison that Monday and charged with simple battery, inciting to riot and disturbing the peace. She was released on bond the same day and is due in the 19th Judicial District Court at a later date. The charges are allegations, and the case had not been decided at the time of these reports.
