Rising Atlantic Records artist Luci4 has died at 23 after being found unresponsive at a home in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the death of the rapper, whose real name was James Dear. His cause of death has not yet been released.
According to statements his grandparents shared with TMZ, Luci4 passed away on February 22 at a friend’s house. They also claimed that his wallet had been completely emptied and said they had previously warned him about some of the people he had been spending time with as his career began gaining momentum.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a medical call at the residence around 11:40 AM. However, firefighters arrived to find him already deceased and notified the police. Law enforcement then established a crime scene. Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing, and it remains unclear whether foul play is suspected.
Luci4 built a strong online following as a pioneer of the sigilkore microgenre, which is a blend of trap and electronic music. He gained viral attention on TikTok in 2021 before signing with Atlantic Records. His breakout song “BodyPartz” later received gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.
As fans continue to mourn, many are waiting for officials to release more details about what happened in his final hours.
