Luigi Mangione’s Attorneys Are Betting On A Psychiatric Defense In The UnitedHealthcare CEO Killing Case

An anonymous donor has contributed $11,000 to Luigi Mangione’s legal defense fund, expressing concerns about Trump’s executive order on the death penalty and its potential impact on the case.

The donor, who has not been identified, stated that while the death penalty should not be politicized, they fear Trump’s executive order will make it increasingly so.

“I am also concerned about the severe infringement on the defendant’s right to a fair trial and due process, since his juries are effectively pre-tainted,” the donor said.

As of Thursday evening, Mangione’s defense fund has raised more than $500,000, with supporters contributing through a website managed by his attorney. Mangione himself released a statement thanking those who have written letters of support.

Mangione is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson while he was on his way to a Manhattan conference on December 4. After a five-day manhunt, Mangione was arrested in Pennsylvania and later extradited to New York City.

He faces federal charges, including two counts of stalking, one count of murder through use of a firearm, and a firearms-related offense. Additionally, he is facing state charges in both Pennsylvania and New York.

Mangione is scheduled to appear in New York state court on Friday, with a Pennsylvania court appearance set for February 24. His next federal court appearance is scheduled for March 19.

Genius ,should waste his money on something useful instead of on some idiot’s defense who at a minimum will spend the rest of his life in prison.
