The Netflix docuseries about the Luka Magnotta case has put the convicted killer back in the spotlight, and now his mother is speaking out. She says the investigation missed something important.
According to TMZ, Magnotta’s mother, Anna Yourkin, said she firmly believes a third hand visible in her son’s infamous online video belongs to a man Magnotta has called “Manny.” Magnotta was convicted in the 2012 killing of Canadian student Jun Lin. He has long claimed that Manny pressured him into his crimes, but the docuseries raised the possibility that Manny is not a real person and may have been inspired by a character in a movie.
Yourkin told TMZ that police in Canada and Interpol are ignoring what she sees as key evidence. “You can’t see a face, so it’s unidentifiable, but Manny was there,” she said.
She also claimed her son emailed her a photo of Manny before the crimes and told her not to open it unless something happened to him. She said she can no longer access it because authorities seized her computer. These claims are hers alone and have not been verified.
Baller Alert has not seen any confirmation from authorities that Manny exists or played a role, and TMZ’s report did not include a response from Canadian police or Interpol.
