Comedian Aries Spears, known for his work on Mad TV, is dealing with a divorce and a restraining order request from his wife, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
TMZ reported that his wife, Elisa, filed for divorce on February 7, citing irreconcilable differences, and asked for full custody of the couple’s young son. Four days later she filed a request for a restraining order, claiming in her filing that Aries swung a baseball bat at her. These are allegations made in court papers, and they have not been tested in court.
TMZ reported that Elisa received a temporary restraining order. Aries then agreed to give her full physical and legal custody of their son and to stay 100 yards away from her and the child unless a visit is arranged in advance. TMZ also reported that Elisa is moving to Florida and that Aries agreed to pay for the move.
Aries Spears’ lawyer responded to TMZ, saying the family is mending, that the two have chosen some distance for the moment, and that the couple has been communicating peacefully and working things out. The lawyer added that Aries looks forward to spending quality time with his son.
