Police in North Carolina say a man has been arrested on human trafficking charges following the overdose death of a 16 year old girl.
According to the Greenville Police Department, officers went to the Baymont Inn on Tuesday after a call about a drug overdose. First responders tried to help the teen but were unable to save her. Police are not identifying her. The death is being treated as an overdose, and an autopsy is pending.
Police say the investigation that followed led them to Anthony, 21, who authorities say had been in a relationship with the girl since she was 15. Authorities allege he forced her into prostitution. He was charged with human trafficking, promoting prostitution, and other offenses involving a minor, and he is being held on a $3 million bond.
These are allegations at this stage, and Anthony has not been convicted of anything. A response from him was not available at the time of this report.
