Police in Nashville have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of nurse Caitlyn, who was shot in her SUV on an interstate while driving to work earlier this month, according to the Associated Press and local reports.
Caitlyn, 26, worked at Saint Thomas West Hospital. Police say a Metro Parks officer found her vehicle on the shoulder of Interstate 440 on the night of December 3. She died at the scene. Her family and colleagues remember her as compassionate and kind.
The case had no early leads. On Friday, police announced the arrest of Devaunte, 21, after a tip from a concerned citizen. According to the Tennessean, the arrest affidavit says the tipster told police about the gun used in the shooting and where it could be found. He has been charged with criminal homicide. CNN reported that a $65,000 reward had been offered for information leading to the person responsible.
Police said they have no clear motive and that the two did not know each other. Charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
“We are hopeful that justice for Caitlyn’s family will be served following the announcement that a suspect has been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation,” Saint Thomas West Hospital said in a statement.
