A man in Japan has been arrested on suspicion of fraud after allegedly dating dozens of women at once and giving each a different birthday, according to Japanese broadcaster MBS and other news reports from April 2021.
Takashi, 39, reportedly told each of the women his birthday fell on a different date so they would give him gifts. Authorities say he was in relationships with more than 35 women at the same time.
In the most recent case, police said he told a 47 year old woman his birthday was February 22nd, though he was actually born on November 13th. Another woman said he told her his birthday was in July, and another believed it was in April.
MBS reported that the women collectively lost about 100,000 yen, roughly $984, before they compared notes and went to authorities. The broadcaster also aired photos of him with different women, including one at a table with two birthday cakes.
A response from Takashi was not available in the reports we reviewed. An arrest on suspicion of fraud is not a conviction.
