A heartbreaking case out of North Texas has an 18 year old facing a capital murder charge. George, of Bellevue, Texas, was arrested on Wednesday night, according to The Dallas Morning News, after his 3 year old stepson was shot in the head the night before.
Authorities say they responded to a report that a child had been shot inside a travel trailer in unincorporated Clay County, about 80 miles northwest of Fort Worth. The first account given to investigators was that the little boy had been jumping on a bed and a gun went off by accident.
Investigators say the evidence inside the trailer did not match that account. George was charged with capital murder and criminal trespass. According to authorities, he allegedly pointed the gun at the child and threatened to shoot if he did not stop jumping on the bed before firing. These are allegations from investigators. He has been charged but not convicted, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
His bail was set at $505,000.
