Robert Scott palmer capitol riots

A Florida man has come clean about his role in the January 6th Capitol Riot, admitting that he threw a fire extinguisher at police officers on that fateful day.

Robert Scott Palmer struck an agreement with federal prosecutors and, on Monday, pleaded guilty to one count of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers using a dangerous weapon. The 53-year-old was arrested in Florida on March 17th and admitted that he traveled to Washington D.C. for the violent riot. He says he tossed a wooden plank at police officers and then sprayed them with a fire extinguisher. The man says he then violently threw the extinguisher towards the cops.

While no officers were hurt by Palmer, federal prosecutors emphasized that the size and weight of the device could have potentially caused serious bodily injury had anyone been hit. Photos from the insurrection show Palmer committing the attack on officers while wearing an American flag jacket.

Palmer will learn his fate on December 17th. He is facing a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The FBI continues to pursue those who participated in the Capitol attacks. They have made over 600 arrests so far.
