A Florida man bumped into what he thought was his dog, but it ended up being an alligator that then attacked him.
Imagine minding your own business walking outside and then boom, you’re bit by a dog…but when you look down, the dog is actually an alligator. That’s what happened to a man who was walking his dog on a leash outside of his Warm Mineral Springs Motel in North Port on Tuesday.
The man says he suddenly saw a dark figure moving around the bushes; he thought it was merely a dog on a leash, according to Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, USA Today reports. When he tried to get by the figure, it didn’t move. The figure turned out to be a an alligator that then took a chomp out of the man’s leg, tearing out a part of the man’s muscle tissue.
After hailing down a nearby cop, the man was rushed to the emergency room where he he was eventually released. He’s expected to make a “full recovery” from the non-life-threatening injuries, USA Today reports.
