A Florida man is facing kidnapping and assault charges after Clearwater police say he forced a woman into his car and threatened her.
According to police, Demarko, 30, was arrested after he allegedly threatened to hurt the woman unless she created an OnlyFans account and posted explicit content for him. The case was first reported by Fox 13 and picked up by outlets including TheGrio.
Police say it began on May 19, when Demarko learned the woman had gone out without him. He allegedly called her more than 100 times overnight. She reportedly called back around 7 a.m. the next day, and an argument followed.
Police say Demarko then went to her home and made her get into his car, where he hit her. He allegedly drove her around for hours while describing plans to control her OnlyFans earnings, and demanded that she cash her paycheck and hand over the money.
According to police, the woman tried to run away when he stopped at a credit union, but he pulled her back into the car. She later got to her phone and called 911 when he parked at a Costco. Police say he chased her down, tackled her, and took her phone and photo ID.
Demarko was arrested the next day. Police say he is charged with kidnapping, extortion, strong arm robbery, battery, grand theft, false imprisonment and witness tampering. Charges are allegations, and a court will decide the case. A response from Demarko or his attorney was not available at the time of reporting.
