Perfume company Parlux Fragrance was ordered to pay Jay-Z over $6 million.

Earlier this week, the Manhattan Supreme Court ruled that Parlux owes the rapper $6.78 million, including interest, in unpaid royalties.  In 2013, Hov partnered with the company to launch its “Gold Jay-Z” cologne.

“We’ve been awarded and will be receiving the money as we should,” Jay’s lawyer Alex Spiro said.

However, the court’s verdict didn’t sit well with Parlux, and they have reportedly filed an appeal against the ruling. The appeal comes just six months after an appellate court awarded Hov $4.5 million from Parlux. The court ruled that Hov and his company were “entitled to summary judgment on their royalties counterclaim.”

November 2021, a Manhattan jury dismissed Hov’s trial with Parlux after jurors found that he was not liable for the $67.6 million in requested damages. In addition, they also rejected Hov’s $6 million countersuit over unpaid royalties.

“You failed to prove your case. They failed to prove their case,” the judge said at the time. “You’re excused,” he told the jury.

The three-week trial came roughly six years after Parlux sued Hov in 2016 for allegedly costing the company millions by breaching the terms of their agreement.
